• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    Abortion

BUT in manslaughter, the mind usually is controling the body, causing the action which causes the accidental death. Miscarriage is reflexive; it's not at all controlled.
  2. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

How should one define killing? The mother's body has a part in the miscarriage, but not the mother's mind. She doesn't even press the proverbial switch which would cause the death most of the time, so...

    Abortion

No, because a miscarriage is totally different. It's an accidental death. It's not a punishment; it's a responsibility to ensure the fetus's survival into birth. You're responsible for its existence; you don't get to just absolve yourself of that responsibility.

    Abortion

That's just a number I pulled out of my butt, making sure it was freakishly small. The point was that a worse childhood doe not automatically make someone become a psychopath. But, anyway... How do you define bad citizens?

    Abortion

No, but they should have the common sense to realize that when they engage in sexual activity, there is a chance of pregnancy. Assuming the worst situations... if .005% of those in the orphanages grow up to be good, intelligent citizens, that's still significantly more than 0%.

Because they brought said physical and emotional trauma upon themselves, and shouldn't be allowed to simply handwave it away.

    Which rarely involve death.
  8. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

You should really get an allergy test in the first place. :/ But I digress; that's irrelevant to this debate. Because being pregnant is CLEARLY comparable to death.
  9. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

The problem is that I seem to be the only one on my side that's even trying to debate.
  10. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

I've no clue. Here's a thought: What if all the money spent on ineffective propaganda was spend on research into simulating the environment of the womb? If a pregnancy is unwanted, remove the zygote and transplant it into the artificial womb, effectively satisfying both sides.

    Abortion

That's kind of a shoddy argument- all it means is that people say something one way. I wouldn't use the wording of a common phrase to argue any point. To anyone saying rape is the mother's fault: No, it isn't. Al you're accomplishing by saying that is making the other pro-life people here look...
  12. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

That's a rather poor analogy; by that logic, a mother should be allowed to shoot her child in the face, as it's not old enough to decide it doesn't want to be shot in the face. Obviously, that's certainly untrue, so clearly there's a fault in the analogy.

    Abortion

    Why? Bacteria are alive, no?
  14. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

Again, technically yes, regardless of the ethics involved. The clump of cells handles the fetus's life processes, ergo it is a body. All living things have bodies; some are simply more advanced. EDIT: Oh, and read the thread; all you're doing is making your own side look bad. I'm pro-life, but...
  15. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

You fail biology forever. A bacterium is alive. The LIFE of a fetus en utero isn't an ethical question, it's a biological question. It is alive, regardless of the ethics of abortion.
  16. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

THAT statement is true. However, fetuses are juveniles, and thus can't reasonably be expected to reproduce.
  17. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

The womb is the suitable environment for the fetus. By such logic, you could say a fish isn't alive- you take it from the water and it dies. Besides, how can something that isn't alive die? Contradiction much?
  18. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

Why not? A fetus seems to fit well enough. Metabolism: What do you think the umbilical is for? Supplying nutrient-filled blood to the cells. Growth: ...Okay, this doesn't even need an explanation. Reaction to stimuli: Reflexes develop in the fetal state. Reproduction: No, because a fetus is...
  19. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

Isn't that kind of a selfish reason to kill a human, regardless of the developmental stage?
  20. Crazy Weavile

    Abortion

Obviously voluntarily. Mandatory sterilization is bad news.
